Pep Rallies for Health is a grassroots program created to extend the anti-vape messaging into targeted school districts where vaping is a growing problem. This campaign is designed around the use of grassroots tactics to change teen behavior and attitudes towards e-cigarettes by generating positive peer pressure from sport celebrities, student leaders, and school athletes.
The program includes onsite events at the host schools, with discussions with Hall of Fame athletes (like Darrell Green, formerly from the Redskins) about the dangers of vaping and ways to quit.
School-based initiatives:
States participating in the Pep Rallies for Health program have access to a library of pre-made marketing and event materials that can be licensed for use. Everything is attractive and professionally designed.
There’s no need to worry about banners, pledge boards, event programs, promotional videos… we’ve got you covered!
A welcome and introduction by the school principal. Recognition for high school athletes—teams wear their jerseys to the event. Pep band music to engage the crowd.
A presentation by subject matter experts. Student Ambassadors speaking about peer pressure and vaping. An introduction of speakers and Hall of Fame and sports champion participants.
Recognition program for student leaders and athletes advancing student health initiatives like anti-vaping. Promotion and launch of student health initiative “Pep Rallies for Health” high school chapter.
Closing comments by school and state officials, followed by lunch with celebrity and students in the school cafeteria. Celebrity will attend several student classes during the afternoon for one-on-one time with students.
Vaping was promoted by manufacturers as a healthier way to use nicotine for adults. Not only that, but e-cigarettes were sold in many popular fruit flavors, making the product more attractive to a younger demographic.
The dangers of e-cigarettes became more apparent to parents and schools once the e-cigarette and vape-induced lung injury (EVALI) epidemic began to make headlines.
